Attention Junior Golfers!
Bob-O-Link's Junior Golf Tournaments were quite a success this summer. The nine week program exceeded expectations by hosting a total of 95 junior golfers.
The golf tournaments were set up to accommodate two age groups that both boys and girls competed in. The first, ages 9 - 12, competed in a 9 hole tournament. The second age group, 13 - 17, played an 18 hole tournament.
Tournament prizes were awarded in Bob-O-Link gift certificates. The winner of each group also had their picture taken and it is posted on a "Junior Golf Tournament" bulletin board inside the club house.
Overall, we feel this has been a positive experience for the junior golfers and their parents. We saw many golfers leave their "comfort zone" of playing with siblings and neighbors by playing with "strangers" as we moved to a random pairing system toward the end of the nine week program. The program hosted golfers who competed on a golf level but also developed great friendships with new golfers.
Finally, during one of our 18 hole tournaments, we had a junior golfer disqualify himself for a rules violation after confering with the tournament director. This act speaks volumes for the character of kids Bob-O-Link hosted this inaugural season. An act such as this, although unfortunate, is something we spoke about weekly which is protecting the integrity of the game for generations to come. Congratulations to ALL 95 participants from 2009.
The staff at Bob-O-Link looks forward to the 2010 season and Wednesday afternoon junior golf tournaments! For further information, feel free to contact Bob Ciepiela at iowa5@rochester.rr.com
